Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device, 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a scarlet elliptical field bearing a black mascle interlacing in chief two smaller interlaced gold mascles and surmounted in base by two gold broadswords chevronwise tip to tip; attached below a black scroll doubled gold inscribed "UNQUESTIONABLE SUPPORT" in gold letters.

Symbolism
Buff/gold and scarlet are the colors traditionally used by Support units. The interlaced mascles symbolizes organizational solidarity and cooperation, reflecting the strong unit integrity suggested by the motto, "Unquestionable Support" in gold letters. The swords, chevronwise, referring again to the support mission, also denote readiness. Black signifies strength, scarlet and gold symbolize courage and excellence, respectively.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 23 Nov 1999.
